Snowboarder Becca Ballantyne picks up speed and heads downhill on the grounds of Wellington Brewery on Saturday, where approximately 50 athletes competed in The More Fun Rail Jam.
The fundraising event, put on by Ride Snowboards Ontario and the local brewery, saw participants brave frigid temperatures on the day to compete for cash prizes.
The event brought in approximately $300 for the Playsense Activity Centre.
The pre-season “rail” competition saw athletes snowboard on metal rails in a bid to earn top spot for best trick.
The final four in the “pro” category competed in a bracket-style showdown that had battles between Joel Vachon and Daniel Glibota, and Liam Robinson versus Cameron Veenstra.
The crowd picked Veenstra for top spot and he took home $100 cash, while Glibota earned $50 for second place.
