Soccer squads ousted in quarterfinals
The Guelph Gryphons men’s and women’s soccer teams were both eliminated on the road on Sunday in OUA quarterfinal games.
The men’s Gryphons lost 2-0 at the CIS’s No. 5-ranked team, McMaster.
Guelph was outshot 18-6 in the game.
Last Wednesday, Guelph opened the playoffs with a 2-0 win in extra time at Windsor.
Robbie Murphy scored both Gryphons goals.
The women’s team fell 5-1 in OUA quarterfinal play Sunday at the CIS’s No. 5-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
Katie Casucci tallied for Guelph in the 90th minute. Emily Brown had a hat trick for the victors.
Last Wednesday, Guelph beat York 1-0 on the road in an opening round playoff game. Lauren Hampton scored.
