Guelph players took the top two spots in the girls singles category at the CWOSSA tennis championships last week in Waterloo.
Helen He of the Centennial Spartans earned gold in girls singles and silver went to Montana Crawford of the John F. Ross Royals. The two finished in the same order at the District 10 championships a week prior.
Athletes from local schools earned top-two finishes in four of the five tournament categories at CWOSSA.
In boys singles, Zac Faveri of Ross earned second. Isabel Richardson and Monica Trimble of Our Lady of Lourdes were second in girls doubles while Jackson Lay and Gareth White of Centennial CVI were second in boys doubles.
Top two finishers in each category advance to the provincial championships (OFSAA) in June, 2014, in Toronto.
Overall at CWOSSA, Centennial earned second place and Ross third. They had 27 and 21 points, respectively.
Cameron Heights of Kitchener was the overall champ with 31 points.
