Spartans win CWOSSA

The Centennial Spartans girls hockey team has won the CWOSSA AAA/AAAA title.

Centennial beat Kitchener Resurrection 1-0 in overtime in the championship game at the tournament in Kitchener. Samantha Squires scored the game-winning goal and Abby Huggins earned the shutout.

In earlier games, Centennial earned wins by 3-0, 3-2 and 2-0 scores. Scoring were Jordyn Cousins, 3, Breanna Moore, 2, Kaylee Moore, Kesslin Wilker and Charlotte Craine. Shutouts were recorded by Andrea Lacroix and Huggins. Kendra Pitts was in goal for the 3-2 win as the Spartans beat Orangeville, who they lost to in a shootout in the District 10 championship game.

Centennial will compete in the OFSAA AAA/AAAA in Orillia during the week of March 18.  Look for a photo of the CWOSSA champs in an upcoming edition of the Tribune.
