Storm best in the West

The Guelph Storm are OHL Western Conference champions after a 5-0 win over the Erie Otters Friday night at home.

The win gave Guelph a 4-1 Western Conference best-of-seven series victory.

Zack Mitchell scored twice in the win and singles came from Kerby Rychel, Matt Finn and Nick Ebert.

Justin Nichols got the shutout, making 40 saves in the Storm net as the teams each had 40 shots on goal in the game, played in front of an announced crowd of 4,961 at the Sleeman Centre.

The Storm will now play the North Bay Battalion for the OHL title.

The championship schedule is:

Game 1: Thursday May 1: North Bay at Guelph, 7 p.m.

Game 2: Friday May 2:  North Bay at Guelph, 7 p.m.

Game 3: Tuesday May 6: Guelph at North Bay, 7 p.m.

Game 4: Wednesday May 7: Guelph at North Bay, 7 p.m.

* Game 5: Friday May 9: North Bay at Guelph, 7 p.m.

* Game 6: Sunday May 11: Guelph at North Bay, 2 p.m.

* Game 7: Monday May 12: North Bay at Guelph, 7 p.m.

* Games 5, 6 and 7 if necessary
