The Guelph Storm has signed goaltender Michael Nishi to an OHL contract after he was released from the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, the Storm announced on Thursday.
Prior to joining the Olympiques this season, the 19-year-old netminder saw action over three seasons in the OHL.
In 27 games for Windsor, Sault Ste. Marie and Ottawa, the Toronto native had a 12-9-1-2 record with a 3.47 goals against average.
Last season in Ottawa, Nishi had a 3.31 GAA with a 0.902 save percentage in 17 games.
For Gatineau this season, he had two shutouts and a 3.59 GAA.
Nishi will dress for the Storm on Friday when the Barrie Colts visit the Sleeman Centre for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Making his debut for the Storm that night will be overage defenceman Saverio Posa, who was the captain of the Windsor Spitfires before the Storm acquired him in a trade that was announced Wednesday.
