Storm survive Knights’ comeback to win Game 1

The Guelph Storm blew a four-goal lead before pulling out a 6-4 win over the London Knights in Game 1 of their OHL playoff series Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.

Guelph led the game 4-0 early in the second period before the visitors scored four straight to tie the game 4-4.

The Storm’s Justin Auger broke the tie and got the game-winning goal with just over two minutes left in the third period. Kerby Rychel added an empty netter to seal the win, in front of an announced crowd of 4,974.

Also scoring for the Storm were Matt Finn, Robby Fabbri, Pius Suter and Scott Kosmachuk. Jason Dickinson had three assists.

Guelph’s first two goals were shorthanded, and the next two on the power play.

Game 2 of the series is Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
