Tiger-Cats in Guelph
The move of the team’s home games to Guelph is happening because the Ti-Cats’ stadium in Hamilton is being replaced by a new one being built this year.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are hosting a kickoff event for their arrival in Guelph on Wednesday March 6, and season tickets for the Ti-Cats’ upcoming season went on on sale to the public Friday, March 1.
The free kickoff is an invitation-only event for community leaders and fans, and the Guelph Chamber of Commerce has been sending out some of the invitations.
Guest speakers will include Ti-Cats general manager and head coach Kent Austin, CFL commissioner Mark Cohon, Ti-Cats owner Bob Young, Mayor Karen Farbridge, Ti-Cats players and others.
The 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. event at Cutten Fields, 190 College Ave. E., will include a complimentary lunch and cocktails.
The purpose of the luncheon is to celebrate the Tiger-Cats’ arrival at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium for the 2013 season and to promote what the team calls the “exciting opportunities coming to the Guelph community.”
