Saugeen’s Colton Hall, right, reaches for a pass against the pressure of John F. Ross’s Ian Malonda.

What a win!

The John F. Ross Royals are one win away from reaching the Western Bowl football championship game.

The Royals, the District 10 champs, got past Port Elgin’s Saugeen Royals on Friday by a 25-19 score at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium.

Ross players gang tackled Saugeen receiver Brady Goreski about a foot and a half from the end zone on the last play of the game to seal the victory in the CWOSSA semifinal game. Ross advances to the CWOSSA finals, where they’ll take on Brantford Assumption. The game takes place in Brantford Thursday at 1 p.m.

Assumption beat Waterloo’s Sir John A. Macdonald school 31-17 in the other semifinal game.

The winner of the Ross-Assumption game plays in the Western Bowl on Nov. 27 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
