Guelph Gryphons women’s basketball head coach Tom O’Brien announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of the current OUA season.

Later that night, the Gryphons’ season ended after an 81-51 loss at McMaster in the opening round of the playoffs.

O’Brien is currently in his third year in charge of the Gryphons, and his 44th year of coaching hoops.

He will continue to fulfill the administrative responsibilities of the basketball program until a new coach is hired, said a news release.
