Wrestler strikes gold at nationals

Korey Jarvis of the Guelph Wrestling Club scored a gold medal at the 2014 Canadian senior wrestling championships on the weekend in Edmonton.

Jarvis won the men’s 125kg grouping. He also netted gold in the men’s 130kg category atthe 2014 Greco-Roman Canadian championship.

Other top-six results from Guelph Wrestling Club members at the senior nationals were Cruiz Manning, third in men’s 65kg; Dalton Webb, fourth in men’s 86kg, and Kevin Iwasa-Madge, sixth in men’s 65kg.

At the junior nationals, the club’s Cierra Carere earned second place in the girls’ 57kg grouping and Natassy Lu was sixth in the girls 48kg. On the boys’ side, Alex Moher earned third in the 55kg and Oren Furmanov was fifth in the same weight class.
