Simon Slade, left, a Grade 5 student at Kortright Hills school, and Tyler Fessenden, a Grade 5 student at St. Ignatius of Loyola school, take some warm-up shots prior to the CPA Junior Regionals pool championship at The Real Deal Sports Bar and Billiards on Saturday morning.
The inaugural event saw pool players aged 7-16 compete.
Seven of the players, Slade and Fessenden among them, will now go on to take part in the APA National Junior Championships, which take place in Iowa in July. Others are: Tyler Campbell of Guelph; Will Pratt-Mee of Guelph; Caleb Keleher of Rockwood; Isaac Hyde of Kitchener and Sameer Singh of Waterloo.
Thirty-nine players had been playing in a year-long junior league and 27 qualified to compete at the regional event Saturday in Guelph.
