Nominate friends of area watershed

The Grand River Conservation Authority is looking for outstanding individuals, families, businesses or community groups that have put time and energy into improving the Grand River watershed.
Nominations are being accepted for the conservation authority’s annual Watershed Awards, which recognize environmental work in the local watershed.
This year’s awards will include three categories, including a special one-time category added in honour of the 20th anniversary of the designation of the Grand River as a Canadian Heritage River, a new release said.
The Special Heritage Awards will be for those who have advanced the river-related heritage and recreational attributes that were recognized in the Heritage River designation, it said.
As well, Honour Roll Awards will be presented for a sustained record of environmental achievement over an extended period of time, and Watershed Awards will be presented for outstanding examples of environmental work, it said.
Nominations can come from anyone in the watershed and must be submitted by May 1.  More information on the program, including biographies of past winners and nomination forms, can be found on the GRCA’s website, Winners will be honoured at an event in the fall.
