The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is challenging visitors this March break with a daring diet of sweet treats with a creepy-crawly, wriggly twist.
The conservatory is hosting its annual Bugfeast from March 9 to 17, offering up a menu that includes cricket caramel corn, salt water taffy with ants, and a Canadian treat – maple mealworm fudge.
“It’s all about confronting our taste buds and our perceptions,” executive director Adrienne Brewster said in a news release.
“Each year since our first Bugfeast in 2001, we have invited our visitors to take a walk on the wild side by enticing them with various themes such as Bugfeast Far East, Bugfeast Down Under and Bugfeast à la Canuck,” Brewster said.
“Our visitors were certainly up to the challenge – since 2001, over 80,000 visitors have proven they were brave enough to eat a bug.
