Concert features tunes from 1940s

Concert goers are being encouraged to bust out their 1940s attire for a performance by the Tasso Lake Band on Jan. 26 at Three Willows United Church.
The five-piece band will put their own special twist on tunes made famous by the likes of Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong and Benny Goodman, a news release said.
Though as the Tasso Lake Band, the group has only been around for about six years, friendships among the members go back more than a decade, the release said.
The core group includes Chris Cigolea on trumpet, Rob White on piano or keyboards and vocalist Tony Hastings, but they invite musicians to play with them as needed, changing the band from a trio sometimes to a 10-piece ensemble.
For the Jan. 26 concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m., the band will also include Jeff Bonnyman on drums and Jason DaMaren on bass.
A reception to meet the band will follow the concert. Tickets are available through the River Run box office at www.riverrun.ca/boxoffice. The church is located at 577 Willow Rd., between the Hanlon Expressway and Imperial Road.
