A double-bill concert preceded by a free pre-show reception will be at the River Run Centre on Valentine’s Day.
The 8 p.m. Feb. 14 show featuring The Good Lovelies and David Myles is a special addition to this season’s Borealis Music Series at the River Run, a news release said.
Ticket holders are invited to a complimentary pre-show reception starting at 7 p.m. in the River Run’s large lobby. Hosted by The Woolwich Arrow, it will include wine tasting and desserts, along with entertainment by members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra.
“It’s been an honour to sponsor the presentation of many talented singer-songwriters as part of the Borealis Series over the past five years,” Bob Desautels, president of The Neighbourhood Group of Companies, which runs The Woolwich Arrow pub, said in the release.
“The Good Lovelies and David Myles were among the many highlights, and we’re thrilled to sponsor their return for a celebratory Best of Borealis concert on the main stage,” he said.
The Good Lovelies, formed in 2006 in Toronto, is “known for their exquisite three-part harmonies, humour, sass and upbeat stage presence,” the release said.
David Myles is “celebrated as a talented musician who has forged his own path, melding modern and vintage pop, folk and soul music,” it said. “He cites the music of Brazil, Africa and hip hop as his influences.”
As well as the Borealis Music Series, Desautels also sponsors the Wooly Kinderconcerts series of shows for young children at the River Run, where members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra tell stories to music.
This is why GSO members will be performing at the pre-show reception on Feb. 14, the release said.
