Elder abuse issues up for discussion on Sept. 10

Local MP Frank Valeriote is bringing people together to talk about the issue of elder abuse.
He will host a discussion on “Elder Abuse: Emotional, Physical or Financial” on Monday Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson St. The event will include discussion about how to spot the signs and find help.
Guest speakers include: Janet Craik, director of professional practice with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists; Sheli O’Connor, vulnerable seniors community service lead with Trellis Mental Health and Development Services; Raeann Ridout, co-chair of the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and regional consultant with the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse; and Judith Wahl, executive director and senior lawyer for the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly.
