Film screening documents the life of singer-songwriter

Local singer-songwriter Sarah J. Felker is the focus of a documentary film that will screen at The Bookshelf on March 26.
Better Day: The Sarah J. Felker Story follows the young songstress as she tries to break into the Canadian music industry, a news release said.
The film chronicles her life over a three-year period, through video diary entries, live footage and interviews. It includes Felker opening for K’naan, travelling to Jamaica to reconnect with her estranged father and meeting with record executives.
The documentary, which premiered on OutTV earlier this month, also tells the story of Felker’s life growing up as a gay teenager, the release said.
The local 7 p.m. screening of the film will be followed up by a Q&A session with Felker and the film’s directors.
