Guelph girls orphaned

Three local girls, from left, Belle Lemieux-Chan, 10, Emma Moroni, 16, and Madison Carroll, 6, are part of a group of girls who are taking to the stage as orphans in the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse production of the famed Broadway musical Annie. They were among 225 young girls who auditioned for 42 spots in the show. The girls, chosen for their singing and dancing abilities, were put into three groups of 14 orphans. Each group will perform a number of shows throughout the six-week production run, from Nov. 13 to Dec. 23. Emma, a Grade 12 student at Kitchener’s Eastwood Collegiate Institute for the Performing Arts, plays the role of July; Belle, in Grade 5 at Taylor Evans school, landed the role of Tessie; and Madison, in Grade 2 at Rickson Ridge school, plays orphan number eight. The Guelph girls will be on stage for shows Nov. 24 and 27, and Dec. 2, 7, 8, 13, 16 and 22. For tickets, call the box office at 519- 747-7788 or 1-855-372-9866.
