This weekend will be filled with music, fun activities, and, of course, an endless supply of ribs as part of the 15th annual Ribfest put on by the Rotary Club of Guelph-Trillium.
The event will run through the Aug. 24-26 weekend at Riverside Park. Mike Baker, an organizer of the event, says he expects thousands upon thousands of people to show up over the three-day event, much like previous years.
Ribbers taking part this year include Billy Bones from Colborne, Bad Wolf Barbeque from Mississauga, Blazin’ BBQ from Chatham, Tennessee Fatbacks from Toronto, Boss Hogs BBQ from St. Thomas, Fat Boy’s BBQ and Pistol Pete’s Smokehouse from London, Horn Dawgs Smokin BBQ from Oshawa and Silver Bullet from Guelph.
Musical entertainment over the weekend has something for the kids, teenagers and adults alike. Performers include Rod Jewell, Andrea Godin, Mudmen, Backroads Band, Bluesynergy, Little Rock, The Golden Retrievers, Tokyo Giants, The Point, Kenny Munshaw, Black Water Trio, Amy Savin and Kerosene Creek. For more information on the performers and the time they’ll be playing, visit www.guelphribfest.com/index.cfm.
A classic car show will run on the Saturday and Sunday of Ribfest and will feature more than 300 vehicles.
The cars will be on display and judged between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day.
A beer tent will also be part of the festivities at Riverside Park.

Money raised from Ribfest will be divided between a variety of charities that apply to the club for assistance. Over $700,000 has been raised at Ribfest since it started 15 years ago.
