Music fair marks 40th anniversary of Suzuki String School of Guelph

Young children can try out various tiny musical instruments Saturday as the Suzuki String School of Guelph holds a Fall Music Fair to celebrate the start of its 40th anniversary year.
Youngsters can try their hand at the violin, viola or cello, as well as drums, xylophones and bells, during the free event at the Guelph Youth Music Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, a news release said.
“Children love trying the instruments” the string school’s artistic director, Paule Barsalou, said in the release.
“We have tiny ones so even the smallest child can hold those instruments comfortably.”
Other activities at the Fall Music Fair are the Orff-Suzuki Music Moves room, watching violin, viola and cello group classes, crafts, a barbecue starting at 11:30 a.m. and a student recital at 1:30 pm.
