Music symposium at U of G

Two American keynote speakers are part of the seventh annual Creative Music Symposium, which the U of G’s School of Fine Art and Music is holding from March 6 to 8.
The event showcases student performances, presentations, interdisciplinary forums, guest artists and open classes, a news release said.
The two keynote speakers, Susan McClary and Robert Walser, are both music professors at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University. McClary will speak in Alexander Hall’s Room 200 at 5:30 p.m. March 6 on “the politics of Baroque ornamentation.” Walser will speak at the same venue at 5:30 p.m. March 7 on the topic, “Why are there so many songs?”
This year’s guest artist is multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Glen Hall, who will perform at 12:10 p.m. March 7 in Room 107 of the MacKinnon Building.
