Solstice event at art centre Dec. 21

The Macdonald Stewart Art Centre will celebrate the season with music, poetry and dance during “Solstice: Songs For a Winter’s Eve” on Dec. 21.
The event, which starts at 8 p.m., will feature song and poetry for the solstice eve, harp music and the art of dance intertwined in a processional performance throughout the galleries of the art centre, a news release said.
The show will star Ondine Chorus, a Guelph-based vocal collective guided by co-artistic directors Shannon Kingsbury and Sue Smith, along with special guests.
Inspired by nature, community and the power of the collective voice, Ondine Chorus explores the marriage of vocal expression and physical movement, and the relationship between performer and audience, the release said.
Joining Ondine in the performance will be poets Alden Hadwen and Aidan Ware, musicians Jeff Bird and Andrew McPherson, and dancers Kathryn Loveday and Lynette Segal.
The event is co-presented by SKSS Productions and the Macdonald Stewart centre.
Tickets are available for a discount in advance at The Bookshelf, 519-821-3311, and at the art centre, 519-837-0010, or at the door on the night of the performance.
