Special free event at River Run

The River Run Centre presents a free event on Sunday March 9 featuring coffee, stories and conversation with internationally renowned architect Donald Schmitt and celebrated dancer/choreographer Laurence Lemieux.
Admission to the 2-3:30 p.m. event called “Building/Dance” is free, but registration is required as seating in Co-operators Hall is limited, a news release said. To register, send an email by March 7 to giving your name and the number of people wishing to attend.
Lemieux, of Toronto’s Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, and Schmitt, of Diamond Schmitt Architects, will “share their engaging and personal story of how a design project led to the creation of a flourishing community cultural hub and inspired a unique choreographic collaboration,” the release said.
The event will give a behind-the-scenes peek into the making of Dichterliebe: The Poet’s Love. It’s a work inspired by Schumann’s song cycle that will be performed at the River Run Centre by Lemieux on March 29 at 8 pm. Dichterliebe includes a short piece choreographed by Donald Schmitt, the release said.
The free event is made possible through Ontario Dances, a program of Ontario Arts Council.
