Youth symphony performs on Saturday

The two-year-old Guelph Youth Symphony Orchestra celebrates the season on Saturday Dec. 14 with a concert at Guelph Youth Music Centre.
Marion Samuel-Stevens, a soprano, will be the special guest soloist at the 7:30 p.m. show called “A Holiday of Joy.”
Tickets are on sale at riverrun.ca or at the door.
The Guelph Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Chris Cigolea, gives 32 Guelph-area youth musicians a chance to flourish in a vibrant musical environment, developing orchestral, musical and team skills with their peers, a news release said.
It was established in 2011 when a partnership was struck by the Guelph Symphony Orchestra and the Guelph Youth Music Centre, who teamed up to provide financial backing and ongoing mentorship. A grant from the Guelph Community Foundation’s Musagetes Fund helped to get the orchestra off the ground, the release said.
